This brand new collection of illuminated paper sculpture is a result of wanting to work in 3D. I am a 3rd generation Schenectadian and the symbol and physical manifestation of light is all around me and consequently these sculptures are a homage to this historic town. They have skeletons of bamboo strips and covered with wet strength tissue paper and painted or printed with watercolor and acrylic paint. Other embellishments include balsa strips, vintage lace/fabric, ribbon and outfitted with fairy lights. They are suspended from fishing line to add a soft lighting feature to your home.
This collection of work is either torn watercolor or embellished with a variety of papers. I’ve used rice paper, mulberry paper, maps, old letters, old magazines and books and much more.
My upcycled art jewelry collection of one of a kind pieces is made from all kinds of paper...vintage magazines, books, old letters, my own watercolors and other ephemera. Some of them are adorned with gold leaf or leather. The papers are sealed several times and sterling silver or gold filled earwires
are applied. Id be delighted to do a custom order for you! My jewelry can be seen at Five Ravens Gallery in Schuylerville NY and the Open Door Bookstore and Gift Gallery in Schenectady, NY.
